Mind-blowing fact alert: it’s 2015, and 3D printing a car is now a thing. More than that, NASA didn’t introduce the world’s first fully-functional 3D-printed vehicle, but rather by an innovative group of minds that make up Local Motors– a young, progressive brand started right here in Phoenix. With a business model built on global co-creation combined with [local] micro-manufacturing, the 3D breakthrough isn’t the only Local Motors showroom hero.
In an effort to share their five unprecedented vehicle creations with the world while gaining traction with the serious car-enthusiast crowd, Local Motors partnered with Blind Society to build their brand presence at SEMA Las Vegas – one of the automotive industry’s premier trade show events.
Blind Society worked fast and furious on a strategy to help tell the brand’s complex story so that it would connect with the auto-obsessed, while extending seamlessly into an interactive tradeshow experience all passer-bys could appreciate. By first translating complex product detail and intricacy into a digestible message everyone could rally around, Blind Society applied the Local Motors essence to a range of visuals produced to capture leads for vehicle sales, brand exposure and – most importantly – excitement around the “what’s next” futuristic era we’re living in. 3D jetpacks anyone?
